Co-lab…

Ikea has done it again! They just came out with a new collection “Svartan” which is a co-lab with the Swedish designer Martin Bergström. He is inspired by the indian culture, which is really colorful yet faded, and decided to make a collection only in black, white and grey colors. I love it and the fact that it is so cool and affordable for anyone is even better.

Preparation………

It is a lovely time this December month, that is if you have the time to actually relax a little, bake a little, spend quality time with the family, walks in the woods, play in the snow and finally just have the famous vin chaud, do x-mas deco and wrap presents. I will do my best this year to really fit in all these wonderful things………………Today I am really not in the mood to work and keep postponing the to do list for today. I keep going back to the window looking out at this amazing white world, snow falling slowly, listening to the fireplace chewing through wood, enjoying the smell of freshly brewed coffee……..anyway I found these photos on Lantliv and I just love the simple way this family is enjoying the preparations for christmas. Kind of like how I feel today, cool, calm and collected

Rustic stars………

Last weekend I started the first preparations for December deco……….This years theme for my x-mas is rustic. So the kids, a bunch of friends and their kids, my dog and I went to the woods going branch hunting (yes, not sticks but branches! ) It was a really cool and fun day, the kids had a lot of fun and we found heaps of good stuff for the rustic DIY weekend.   We ended up at my place drinking the famous hot gløgg, which is a warm red wine with raisins and almonds and the mandatory æbleskiver which tastes like pancakes but better. So here is a glimpse of our finds and projects…………..

The nomads are moving in………..

It might be because winter is heading my way that I keep falling for summer houses, beaches, retreats etc……..but here is another one I must share! This fab family of 4 has a unique place in Valleviken, Rute socken in Northern Gotland, Sweden. It used to be an old shop where the farmers sold their goods, but this family is now the happy owner of their own hide and seek place. Here Morocco meets the industrial look, pj´s and night gowns can stay on all day beacause they can! I love it and feel like slipping into something comfy and just RELAX……….have a nice weekend

Dream home in Sweden…….

Offcourse this beautiful home is all over the blogs already….. I was not going to put it out here (for personal reasons) but since I see it everywhere I will give you the back story and the real credits for these fab photographs. This was a previous rectory of 420 sqm that was bought in 2006 by my dear friends. The place was in really and I mean really bad shape when they bought it, but they had a very clear vision of their future dream home. After a couple of months the house was standing RAW only the outer walls were left, with no windows, doors nor floors or ceilings. Now the fun part could begin, shaping and sculpturing the coolest house ever. Only the finest materials were to be used and every detail and function of the house was looked after. They designed a beautiful home for their family and off course the very talented danish photographer Heidi Lerkenfeldt was to take the interior photos to perpetuate this. The garden is filled with really old trees, apple, cherry and pear trees, the most fantastic magnolia trees, hazelnut and walnut trees and flowers only one can dream of. This is a garden that really is a treasure all year around.

Well I really love this house and today it is for sale with the real estate agent http://www.erikolsson.se………..so if you are house hunting this is it!!!!!

This weeks insider…….

I love the months before x-mas cause all the interior designers, designers, artists, photographers and other interesting people show of their homes and “how to decorate for x-mas”. Not only is it inspirational, it also brings you behind the scenes in their private zone which always, in my mind, is soooo cool to see how other designers live and surround themselves with design. This weeks insider is the swedish calligrapher and designer Ylva Skarp. For those of you not knowing her yet it is about time, she does beautiful text on everything for your home and the latest addition is x-mas deco……..Anyway she recently did an article for the swedish magazine Lantliv and here is the result…………………

I told you it is good stuff this time of the year!!

The new black……..

I first saw this house 6 months ago when it was for sale. It is situated in Ystad, Sweden and I was blown away by how this huge house was so simple and carefully done on the interior design. I absolutely love the use of the “new black”: Ply wood!!! The mix here with the brick floors, huge steel beams in black, the old wooden floors and the plywood mix really brings the feeling of old ><new in a cool new way. I like the way the owners of this house have added some color to make it more warm and cozy and actually give you a feeling that someone lives here.

There is no new build/renovated home in Japan, Australia, Chile and now in Scandinavia that hasn´t thought in the plywood and concrete in some way, and I am a huge fan!………..Well anyway I spotted this house again in Plaza Deco and this time it was shot by one of the absolutely most fab. photographers Jonas Ingerstedt

I love his work and always seem to float away into another world when watching his work through a lens……….Thanks Jonas Ingerstedt for making my start of the day a little brighter
